The Dash Poem
I read of a man who stood to speak
at the funeral of his friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
from the beginning...to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
and spoke of the following date with tears,
but he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
that she spent alive on earth…
and now only those who loved her
know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own;
the cars…the house…the cash.
What matters is how we live and love
and how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard…
are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left.
That can still be rearranged
If we could just slow down enough
to consider what’s true and real,
and always try to understand
the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger,
and show appreciation more
and love the people in our lives
like we’ve never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect,
and more often wear a smile…
remembering that this special dash
might only last a little while.
So, when your eulogy’s being read
with your life’s actions to rehash...

Steven Arellano  Mike Argraves  Mike Argraves was a longtime coach, father figure and mentor to hundreds of kids and coaches in the Tucson area. He coached our kids for almost 32 years and his passing will be felt across many generations, from grandparents to grandchildren yet to be born. To put it simply, he touched a lot of lives both in his day job – taking care of special needs children – or in his night job – guiding our kids in the many gyms across our city.
200 plus coaching victories does not even begin to measure the impact Mike had on our children. It does not matter that they came from Tucson, Cholla or Santa Rita – they were our kids, all of them.
In December 2016, Mike passed away following a long battle with lung cancer. Margo Baxter Tetrault  Phil Burns  BIRTH Philip was born on August 13, 1957.
DEATH Philip died on December 24, 2008 at 51 years old. Jeff Camp  Jeffrey Alan Camp was born December 1, 1956 in San Antonio, Texas to Donald and Esther Camp. He passed away December 1, 2006 in Orange, California. He was a 1976 graduate of Palo Verde High School and DeVry Institute in California. He worked as a computer analyst for the Los Angeles Court System. He is survived by his sister, Julie Adamcin (Peter) and his nephew and niece, Mark and Amy Adamcin. He is also survived by his fiance Penny Lake. Steve graduated from NAU with a degree in sociology. He was a kind, gentle person. He had an uncanny ability to recite lines from movies and make us laugh. He gave everyone a gift, even if that gift was only his genuine smile, a look, or his spontaneous laughter. Mike Frey  Hugh Gartrell  Hugh, died Friday March 21, 2014 in Newport Ore of cancer Teri Hruby  Birth: 27 Aug 1957; Death: 30 Jun 1996 Jonathon Hunt  Greg Kline  Richard Fredrick Johnson  Richard Fredrick Johnson was born August 14th, 1957 in Duluth, Minnesota. He passed away in February 2013 while in the Posada Del Sol County Nursing Home (Foothills Rehabilitation Center), 2250 North Craycroft Road room 407b, Tucson, AZ, United States 85712. Preceded in death by his mother (8/2010) and father (7/2004). No other family listed.
Rich was a member of the 1975 graduating class of Palo Verde High School and was proud to have been a Titan! One of my last communications with him, he expressed that he was looking forward to coming to our reunion in 2015. I met him playing handball our freshman year. He lived in New Zealand from '63 to '70, where soccer and rugby were mandatory curriculum. He gained an everlasting passion for anything to do with New Zealand. He joined the Air Force in 1975. When he got out of the Air Force he attended Pima Community College and Casper College (WY) where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Sciences degree in 1984. A highlight of his life was a motorcycle trip on his '82 HD Tourglide where he went from Arizona to Florida, up the East coast, through the lower provinces of Canada then down Hwy 101 to San Diego and East on Interstate 8 to Interstate 10 and back to Tucson. He eventually had a motorcycle accident which damaged his left leg. It was amputated in 2009 and then he had to have his right leg removed in 2011 due to diabetic complications. He always introduced himself as Richard "the teeth less, no legs, Mardi Gras, Silverback, Sumo Wrestler," F. Johnson.
According to his Facebook page he described himself as holding to Christian (Lutheran) views and was a "staunch Republican - voting Republican ever since he was eligible to vote".

A Sounder commuter train hit and killed a 58-year-old Seattle man on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks just north of the 15th Street overpass Tuesday morning.
"We got the call about 6:37 a.m. that a northbound Sound Train had hit a pedestrian," said Auburn Police Cmdr. David Colglazier. "We have no details as to how he got on the track."
The King Medical Examiner on Wednesday identified the man as Bradley Malone and classified his death as an accident.
Operated by BNSF crews, the train was traveling from Tacoma to Seattle at about 40 mph, according to BNSF Spokesman Gus Melonas.
"The crew observed a subject in the middle of the tracks, hit the whistle and went into an emergency brake application, but the subject was struck" said Melonas.
Pam Miller  Pamela Kay (Miller) Unterseh 2/25/1958 - 6/25/2014 Pamela was born in Tucson, passed away in Phoenix, AZ. She graduated from Palo Verde High School and worked as a Beautician for 40 years. Pam was the daughter of Kay C. Kopp and the late Howard S. Miller. She is survived by her husband, William H. Unterseh; daughter, Tovah Kubert; sons, Charles Kubert and Joshua Unterseh; grandsons, Able Rai and Gabriel Rai; granddaughters, Rani Rai, Serafyna Smith (all of Phoenix) and Mackenzie Kubert (Indiana); sister, Frances Ann Fellhauer (Ordway, CO) and brothers, Stan Lee Miller (of Tucson) and Curtis E. Miller (Rebecca) of Phoenix; stepson, William Unterseh (Jenny); step- granddaughters, Melissa and Belinda Unterseh (of Yuma, AZ). Also many nieces and nephews in Tucson and Phoenix. Colleen, a 17 yr old Palo Verde High school student fell 150 ft to her death while trying to assist in the rescue of a stranded dog.Colleen died instantly after falling in the Chiva Falls area at 11:30 AM while on an outing with 14 other students and 1 adult of the Palo Verde hiking club.

Maynard Eugene Talley, III was born in Nogales, Arizona on October 22, 1957 to Maynard Eugene Talley, Jr. and Betty Smoot Talley. Maynard passed away at his home in Cave Creek, Arizona on June 18, 2015. He is preceded in death by his father and two sisters, Ceclie Ann and Lindsey Gene. Maynard is survived by his mother Betty and brother William. Maynard proudly served our country in the U S Navy for 22 years where he attained the rank of Chief Petty Officer in the Submarine Service. Upon retirement from the Navy, Maynard made his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He traveled extensively throughout the US in his motor home and was a long-term member of a billiards league. Maynard was also an avid reader and had a very large collection of books. He recently moved back to Arizona to be closer to his family. He will be dearly missed. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26th at 10:00 AM at Shadow Mountain Mortuary Chapel, 2350 E Greenway Rd, Phoenix. Brian Tatro  Bryan James Tatro beloved husband, father and brother, passed from this life on December 30, 2008. He was born December 23, 1956, in Newcomb, New York. His family moved to Tucson in 1962, where he later graduated from Palo Verde High School. In 1980, Bryan started working for the railroad, first for Southern Pacific, then Union Pacific. He married Ann Goodman Tatro in 1982. His 26 year railroad career took Bryan and his family to Texas and New Mexico for many years. In 2005, he returned to the Tucson area, settling in Vail. Bryan is survived by his wife, Ann and children, John James of Las Cruces, New Mexico and Amanda Lee; brothers, Eddie (Ann), Leon (Debbie) and Mike (Kallyn) of Tucson and Ralph (Margaret) of Woodinville, Washington; sisters, Wendy (Danny) and Leeann (Sam) both of Tucson and many nieces and nephews. Woman charged in girl's death ~ A charge of vehicular manslaughter has been filed by the county attorney against Mrs. xxxxxxxx, 27, of xxxx , in the traffic death April 14 of Cecelia Ulloa, 14. Police said the girl, of 7314 E. Eastview St., was fatally injured when she was struck by Mrs. xxxxx's automobile while walking at the intersection of S. Kolb Koad and E. Calle Betelgeux.
